From The AHS Echo: Ava Band Takes the Field in Competition

By Jessie Eubanks
The Ava Pride Band had an eventful season, competing in marching competitions in Paragould, Arkansas on October 9, Ozark Mountain Marching Festival in Reeds Spring on October 16, and the Festival of Champions in Warrensburg on October 30.

The show this year featured selections from the musical Les Misérables, including “Work Song /At the End of the Day”, “I Dreamed a Dream”, “Master of the House”, and “On My Own / Do You Hear the People Sing.”

The Pride Band did very well at Reeds Spring with a score of 61.675 and placing first in preliminaries and a score of 55.275 in finals.

They also earned an award for Outstanding Horn Line, which means they performed their piece better than the other band in their division.

This was a major improvement from their performance at Paragould the week before where the band earned a score of 54.675.

The band then traveled 3 ½ hours to Warrensburg and performed at the University of Central Missouri stadium and improved their score once again.

They competed against bands from larger schools and placed sixth overall in preliminaries with a score of 58.5.

The Ava Pride Marching Band did very well this season, accomplishing their annual goal of improving their scores every week. The next time the marching band performs will be on December 11 at the Christmas Parade in their brand new uniforms.
