October’s bright blue skies were enjoyed but the dry dusty earth had to be “dealt” with and caused sinus problems since we didn’t get rain showers.
Belated October birthdays to Loretta Davidson and Natalie Pleasant. Natalie killed her deer in bow season.
Phyllis and Alva Hollingsworth had her brother, Melvin Fox, visiting them Saturday.
Best wishes to Frank Lang who had open-heart surgery in Baxter Regional Hospital Friday and is reported to be recovering well.
Happy November birthdays to a few friends (and all others). Karen N. Davis, (Mrs. Ed), on November 7, Marv Looney, on Nov. 9 and Kim Moody on the 10th.
There were 13 ladies and two children who attended Vicki Smith’s farewell party and luncheon for Sylvia Carson last Thursday noon, as her moving to N. Pekin, Illinois will be Nov. 7. We will miss her at church and club. Vicki served a delicious luncheon.
November’s flower is chrysanthemum and have always been one of my favorites, but this year they have been damaged by the dry weather.
The Leonard McCullough family has our sympathy in their loss. A memorial was at Mammoth Church.
This Wednesday evening is business meeting at Lilly Ridge Church following Bible study. Coming up Nov. 20 is Ladies Prayer brunch at Lilly Ridge at 10 a.m. with service to follow.
Lyndon, Linaia and Tyler Pitcock came Saturday from Fair Grove and took care of leaf raking for me, (for a time) and Lyndon replaced guttering on my house, a much needed job to get done. The leaves are still coming down, so is a never ending job. Marlyn Pitcock, from Forsyth, came Monday and took care of more fall jobs for me, which I appreciated, while the weather was nice for outdoor tasks.
Roger and Jean keep busy with fall jobs around their place and enjoyed having their son, Todd and wife, Lorie, with children, Zachary and Allison, who were on spring break, Monday and Tuesday from Ozark.
Doris Treiber visited in Kansas with her relatives in early October.
Doug, Karen and Austin Livingston visited Mearl and Beulah Satterfield Friday night and Saturday and Austin hunted deer with his dad.
Best wishes to Imogene Grisham who was in Cox Hospital over the weekend from a hip surgery she had in late summer that had complications lately.
Paul Pyle has been a patient in Baxter Regional Hospital the past week. The Tecumseh Fire Dept. postponed their appreciation event in honor of Paul until he gets home. It had been scheduled for this Friday evening.
Sylvia Carson’s sale is Saturday, the 6th and her children will be moving her to Illinois the next day.
Installation of Gainesville Eastern Star officers is at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, dinner served at 1 p.m.
Pastor Danny Norton delivered good sermons at Lilly Ridge Church on Sunday morning and again Sunday evening. For those who fail to come hear him are missing good messages. Our Sunday school classes need more folks coming in, as they are very good and Wednesday evening Bible study is also growing. Come join in the studies.
Paralee Rea had Friday evening dinner with Bob and Betty Arnett.
On Saturday afternoon Paralee joined the Clark Ridge Fire Dept. “chili cook off,” bake sale event as a fundraiser. On Saturday night she handed out candy with the auxiliary on the square “trunk or treat” and attended the Clark Ridge Church of Christ Fifth Sunday dinner.
On Sunday afternoon the Free Will Baptist Clark Ridge Church with Ed Smith, pastor, had the nursing home service and Paralee joined them. And Sunday night she attended the congregational singing at the Calvary Baptist Church of Gainesville.
Talk about a busy weekend.
We must remember to turn our clocks back and gain that hour of sleep we lost last April this Saturday night.
Sunday, the 7th will be Lilly Ridge Church bi-monthly dinner, so join us if you can.
Just a thought: “There is no greater loan than lending a sympathetic ear.”
