St. Francis Church News

Sunday, November 7 was the twenty-third Sunday after Trinity. Fr. Glen based his sermon on the gospel for the day, St. Matthew 22:15. In this passage the Pharisees – the Jewish religious authorities ganged up with the Herodians – the ruling dynasty appointed by the Romans – and try to trick Jesus into committing either religious or political treason by asking him “Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar or not?” They think that he will preach treason, but he outsmarts then by telling them to “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s.” Earthly governments are necessary and deserve our support, but we must never forget that our ultimate loyalty is to God.
In announcements, Fr. Glen announced that next Sunday will be our November vestry meeting and also our annual Harvest Festival to collect food for the Food Harvest of the Ozarks.
Everyone is welcome at St. Francis Anglican (Traditional Episcopal) Church where Fr. Glen Hartley conducts services Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. assisted by lay leader, Tom Berthold, acolytes, Chandler and Lincoln Connell, and organist, Kip Smith.
