We have had a beautiful week and hopefully we can enjoy the good weather a few more days. We do need rain and are expecting to get some before the week is over.
I think Ava had a good turnout for the election. I suppose not everyone was happy with the results, but the majority got their wish.
We’ve had a busy week at Faith Rock, our quilters gave away several quilts and I think a few will go out this week. I think we’re getting better all the time, anyway, I think they are very pretty and warm too. Sis. Norma Fry has been back in the hospital again and is now in the nursing home again and hopefully will be able to return to her own home soon. We also were glad when Sis. Betty Hesterlee was able to come home from the hospital. She had to have some stints put in to open an artery that was closed over 99% and they were able to open the one and will have to return and have some others done before long. She spent three nights at St. Johns and Bro. Darrel brought her home Saturday. She was in church to preach Sunday both services doing real well. They had thought they would have to do open heart surgery, but thankfully they will do stints instead.
I suppose by now those that know the Grahams know that Pastor Dale Graham passed away Sunday while at the pulpit preaching there at Sullivan, MO. He had been pastor at the Assembly of God Church there. I believe most of his family live in that area and the service will be in Sullivan. I believe his mother, Lola, had moved up there some time ago. Our prayers are certainly with the family. We certainly don’t know the day or the hour when our time here will be over and we need to be ready to meet God at all times.
Jerry and I celebrated our 50th anniversary last Saturday at the Ava Senior Center. Our daughters, Teresa and John Gloyd and Sherry and Wesley Wallace and family had worked getting this ready, probably for several months and everything was beautifully done to perfection. I was very humbled by the care they had put into every detail. Wes’ mom, Sue Wallace, is a professional cake decorator and she outdid herself on the beautiful cake and punch and it was good too. The food was great and the musicians were enjoyed.
We appreciate all for the beautiful cards and your presence. We were glad to have many of John Gloyd’s family there and some of my church family, Jerry’s sister, Ruth Swearengin and son, Russell from Springfield and Jerry’s sister, Shirley and Kenneth Davis from Jefferson City and a cousin, Dean and Irene Jordan from Arkansas, All of our grandchildren and their loved ones, and my sister, Lorene Byrd and Don Byrd from Mtn. Grove. We got a beautiful fruit and cheese basket from my sister, Verda and Roger Komlo in Virginia and phone calls from others. We had friends from Carter Lake, Iowa, Robert and Sharleen Teal. Many of our good friends here in Ava came and enjoyed our 50th and we appreciated all of you.
God bless.
