Dogwood Ramblings

Carol Boeddeker-Genet was pleased that so many came out to vote in the general election.  We managed to have heat in the garage as well as coffee and goodies for anyone wanting some.  As usual, it was a long day and it took the next day to recuperate.  For the first time the courthouse had areas designated for judges to return ballots and equipment and this was much appreciated.
It was great getting to visit with so many from this area, catching up on local news, sharing tidbits.  Diana Swearengin, Tina Chriss, Rex Boeddeker and I “worked” the election at this precinct.  We hope everyone showing up found us welcoming and helpful.
We are again in need of rain, very much so.  Winter pastures are being used up much too early and farmers will be scrambling for hay before long.  We didn’t have a “flaming review” on this hill that I could see, perhaps in some of the hollows but not on the ridge,  again, the lack of enough rain.
The sermon at St. Leo’s on Sunday was about always putting God first; before family, before money and possessions, before desires.  When we put God first, when we have faith, our needs will be met.
Susan Sinclair reports that the week of revival has been filled with prayer, worship, and music for our Father through our Lord Jesus Christ and good news preaching about Christ and how He saves!
Pleasant Ridge, Goodhope Nazarene, Breedon, Redbank, and Goodhope Baptist are participating in this wonderful move of God. We have heard uplifting messages of encouragement along with messages of chastisement, and the end is always the same “Turn to Jesus-he is the only way to salvation and he loves you!”
When we are obedient we walk with Jesus, and when we are disobedient don’t run away-run to Jesus-when we turn from our disobedience and return to him he is quick to forgive when we cleave to him.
Christians-love God, obey God, believe God!  We renew our minds by reading and knowing the Word of God. Reaching out to sinners- they are walking dead spiritually and don’t know it. Tell them the truth about Christ, and if you don’t know how to tell them, then show them by how you live.
Godly shame on the Christians who have been in the church for years and act holy on Sunday then live like a child of hell the rest of the week!  Return to Christ!  There is no condemnation on a child who returns.
Jesus is quick to forgive if we turn to him, it is time for us to turn, reach out to the one who died for me and you!
Some folks say they don’t want to attend a church because it has hypocrites, and that is true. The Bible calls them “tares”, but I want to remind with love, that the reason we attend church is to worship God, not to condemn hypocrites. God is the only one with authority to condemn, not us.
We are to point sinners to Christ and point out sin, then pray for the sinner so they might come back to God.
Until next time, God bless you and your family.
