Sunday, October 17 was the twentieth Sunday after trinity. Fr. Glen based his sermon on the epistle for the day, Ephesians 5:15, in which St. Paul admonishes the Christians at Ephesus to “walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise…” This means that a Christian life is one of awareness and following God’s will, not the ways of the world.
After the service we enjoyed a luncheon provided by the church prior to our annual fall work day in which those present worked to clean up the church grounds by raking, trimming, making repairs and collecting trash.
Congratulations are in order for church members who did well in the Ava Art Guild Fall Art Show. Rita Fancher won honorable mention in Advanced Acrylic for “Guardian,” and 3rd in Advanced Oil for “Mellowmill.” In the under 18 category Laura Berthold won 1st for “Young Ballerina” and Natalie Berthold won 2nd for “Sunset.” We are proud of our artists and their talents and their dedication to the church.
