Every week, we ask area residents a question. The question may be serious, or it may be light-hearted. We will print the answers we receive here.
For this week’s question we asked:
Which issue on the Nov. 2 ballot are you most passionate about?
Proposition B, because it’s an issue on animals. Once they start regulating small animal operations, they are going to go to horses and cattle. – Joyce Jenkins
The jail. I think the longer we wait to build one, the more likely we are to have the state government come in and force us to build one. Then it won’t be a sales tax, but a property tax. I’d rather do it now, with a sales tax, so everyone who comes through Douglas County has to help pay for it. I’d rather have it built now, the easy way, than later, the hard way. – Bonnie Stafford
Proposition B. There are already good enough laws about that, and the Humane Society has a hidden agenda. – Vivian Haynes
The one on animals bothers me. I do think we need a jail. – Judy Todd
The one prohibiting a transfer tax on real estate property. – Ruth Barrett
The animal breeding operation issue. – Ralph Turley
Next week’s question is: How do you feel about the knowledge that has recently come out about bears in our area? Are you concerned, excited, or have some other feeling? E-mail answers to whitney@douglascountyherald.com or call 417-683-4181.
