Eastern Gate and Around the Mountain

Another week has come and gone. It seems I don’t get much done, yet I stay really busy. I guess everybody knows what that’s like.
We have a good Bible study Wednesday night. Juanita Nelson came and joined us. We hope she comes again.
We still miss Alice Nelson. She says her leg is getting better, but is really painful after this surgery and she admits she does not handle pain. We wish her a faster recovery so she can get back to church with us.
On Friday night Tina Johnson had all the youth and teens come to church and had a talk on the persecution of Christians. It was a good talk and she had a kitchen full of kids. It was very good to see so many out to church on a Friday night.
On Sunday Dennis Downs was our preacher. He preached from John. He said that Jesus had compassion on the man at the pool of water that day and He still had compassion on us today. He healed that man from sickness and he will heal us from the sickness of sin if we will ask.
Bud Hampton and Francis weren’t there on Sunday and we sure missed them. They had to take Jonette home.
Jon sang “Beulah Land.” The words to that song are wonderful. The youth sang and I sang a song I used to sing with my mother, “The Holy Hills of Heaven Call Me.”
On Sunday night Esther Johnson played the piano for us during congregation singing. The adults brought the special songs and then Jon, Lindsey, Grace and Evan sang a song. The next group was Bud, Jon, Lindsey and Irene. We decided that we might have to adopt Lindsey to sing with us more often.
We sung “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” and I told them I look forward to when I get to heaven and sing praises to Jesus with my family and friends. I wonder if people like Bud who play instruments will get to play their guitars. What wonderful harmony that would be.
Our church plans for Oct. 31 are to bring a sandwich after church. We are going on a hayride at 2 p.m. and then we will have a wiener roast and games and Christian fellowship. We hope to see a houseful.
As you’re looking around at all the beautiful fall colors remember to thank God for all He does for us. May the Spirit you feel this Halloween season be the Holy Spirit.
God bless each and every one of you through this time of holiday seasons.
