Bethany Baptist Church News

There is quite a lot of activity going on each Sunday afternoon with various practices. The young people are working on a play. The Jubilee Singers have started working on Christmas music. Some of the people practice for specials and the ladies have a prayer meeting.
This Friday evening the church will be having the annual Hayride and Campout at the Corder place. This means that there will be hot dogs, marshmallows, finger foods, and Ruby’s World Famous Chili.
Dan Stillings sang a special in the Sunday morning service. The Youth Choir sang in the evening.  Pastor Bob Sorensen preached another sermon on the “Second Coming of Christ.”
It is easy to be discouraged by world wide events that seem to grow worse and worse each year and it is easy to be caught up in a “gloom and doom” kind of thinking, but we need not despair, we have looked at the end of the book. We read there about the coming of Jesus Christ. First Jesus comes in the Rapture for the saints, then after seven years of tribulation, Jesus comes in the Revelation with the saints. This coming of Christ means triumph over sin, sickness, sorrow, and death.
This coming will be soon, it could happen at any time. It could happen before the next pay day. It will happen in a moment. We are to be ready.
This coming will bring about a separation. Many will not be ready. Parents will be separated from children, brothers from brothers, husbands from wives, people at work, and people in churches will suddenly be separated never to see each other again.
This coming will seal the destiny of  those who have ignored the call of the Lord. The lost will be judged for their works with no one to stand up for them. There will be no escape Their opportunity for salvation will be ended. Those who said that they would wait for a more convenient time will see that time has run out.
This coming is sure. Jesus told his disciples in John 14 that he was going to prepare a place and that he was coming again to receive them. There are many New Testament references to the Lord’s return.
There will be shouting at Jesus coming. When the trumpet sounds and the shout is heard, and saints ascend to the skies the saints can truly say, “It is Well With My Soul.” Oh, but the horror of it for the lost!
When Jesus comes again, salvation is complete for believers. But as John 3:18 says, unbelieving is condemned already. It will be a dreadful time for the lost. Yet at this time you can still be saved if you hear and believe the message of salvation and accept the promise, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10:13.
