Ava Place

Fall colors are beautiful and the leaves are falling all around. The high wind last night has increased the leaves on the ground and the rain to come will make a soft carpet of red and gold. Many homes have already lit the fireplaces or stoves and smoke curls gently up the holler reminding us of cooler weather to come. Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
Our visitors last week included the Traveling Strings and Cinita Brown. Cinita Brown spoke about her family’s history and her book relates their life and times. We will be reading the book “The Black Kettle Ride” and Cinita will return to read the last chapter. Virginia and Margaret from Hospice Compassus played Bingo with our residents.
This week The Missouri Extension Center will be starting the classes “Live Like Your Life Depends On It – Managing Health Issues”. Residents and community class participants will meet here for the scheduled classes.
Residents and staff are getting ready for Halloween and have prepared treats for the children who come by this Saturday evening. We plan to have an exciting evening with all different costumed trick or treaters.
Amy Adams has completed her food safe certification and we congratulate her for attending the class. She will be conducting inservices for the staff about what she learned.
Have a great week and enjoy the holiday season.
