Earlene Trent Oxley, 79 years, passed away on Oct. 8, 2010 at St. Luke’s Northland in Kansas City, Mo.
Earlene was born Aug. 26, 1931 in Ozark County, Mo., to William “Bill” and Florence M. (Bruffett) Trent.
Earlene was a resident of Ava, and was employed as a bus driver with Gainesville School system. She was also a dedicated homemaker.
On July 28, 1951, Earlene and Ray Oxley were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union eight children were born. She was a member of the Ava Church of Christ.
Earlene had a passion for sewing, quilting, flowers and gardening and she loved working on the farm with her husband.
Earlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray in 2003; two infant children; and four brothers.
Earlene is survived by six children, Joy Arrington, Smithville, Mo., Connie Hall, Houston, Texas, Tharol Oxley, Texarkana, Ark., Linda Stone, Ava, Mo., Karen Moyer, Parkville, Mo., and Theron Oxley, Wasola, Mo.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Bill Trent, Cook, Wash.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Earlene will be Monday, Oct. 11, at 10:00 a.m., at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 10, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home. Officiating was E.J. Hampton.
