Bradleyville to Present Musical ‘Into the Woods’ Nov. 5 and 6

The Bradleyville Music Department will be presenting the Broadway Musical “Into the Woods” on Nov. 5 and 6.

“Into the Woods” combines the well-known fairy tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Ridinghood with the story of the Baker and his Wife who desperately want a child.

Unfortunately, the Baker and his Wife have been cursed with childlessness by a witch and must bring the witch a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold to break the spell.

After a series of failed attempts and with the help of the other characters, the Baker and his Wife are finally able to perform the tasks necessary to break the spell. Once the characters have accomplished their goals of killing a giant and becoming wealthy, finding a prince, and having a child they learn about the pitfalls of greed and gluttony.

Finally, they learn about the need for community and family when they must unite to fight against the wife of the giant who has decided to come back for revenge.

The show will be performed in its entirety on both nights beginning at 7 p.m.  Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students.

“Into the Woods is presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International (MTI).  All authorized performance materials performance materials are also supplied by MTI, 421 West 54th Street, New York, NY 10019.
