Bethany Baptist Church

Some of the young people met Friday evening for the Pizza and Movie Night. Pastor and Darlene Sorensen prepared the pizza. The movie was called, “The Inheritance.”
The folks at Bethany Baptist were disappointed that their favorite missionary, Tommy Tillman, was not able to come to Ava, Sunday. Tommy had caught some kind of flu bug and was unable to travel. He has such a full schedule that it will be  November 2011 before he can come to Ava.
Norma Stillings sang a special Sunday morning. The Jubilee Singers sang in the evening. Pastor Bob Sorensen brought a message on “Questions concerning the second coming of Christ.”
People ask, “Will Jesus come again?” In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 the Apostle Paul spoke about the coming of the Lord. In Acts 1:11 the disciples were told that Jesus would come back in the same manner that they had seen him go into heaven. In John 14:1-3 Jesus himself said that he was going to prepare a place in heaven and come again for those who believe in him. In Matthew 24 and 25 and many other scriptures Jesus taught about his coming.
When will it be? No one knows when Jesus is coming back, but according to Matthew 24:44, it will be at a time when the world is not expecting him. The lost world is certainly not watching with expectation for the return of Christ. Do Christians act as though they expected the Lord to come today? If Christians really thought that the Lord would come today, they would surely be busy doing the work of the Lord.
How is he coming? Acts 1:11 says that he will come in the clouds. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 says that is will all happen in the twinkling of an eye. We will be going about our daily activities never suspecting and a second later it will all be done. We will hear his call and rise to meet him in the air. There will not be time to warn anyone to get ready once the call is made. We must always be watching and ready.
What should we do? If you are not saved, repent now. There will not be time when he comes. Don’t put off salvation. If you put it off until tomorrow, it may be spiritual suicide. If you are a Christian, live for him. Live clean, get rid of the junk in your lives. Treat the house of God with respect. Talk to your loved ones about the need for salvation.
Are you ready? Do not be one of those that will be left behind. If you are not living for Christ, you are not ready. Take time now to call upon the name of the Lord. Ask him to forgive you, come into your heart, and guide your life. Don’t put that off.
