The Ava softball season ended in the semifinals here last Thursday night with a loss to Mtn. View-Liberty by a score of 6-3.
The game ended with two runners on base and the tying run at the plate.
Earlier on Thursday, top-seed Reeds Spring defeated Hollister, 6-0, and the Lady Wolves went on to beat Liberty on Saturday afternoon for the Class 3, District 10 championship.
The district tournament began on Wednesday afternoon when Hollister defeated Forsyth and Mtn. View-Liberty beat Mtn. Grove.
The championship game on Saturday began at 12 noon and the Lady Wolves quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, and made it 3-0 after two.
Liberty scored its only run in the top of the third inning, but the Wolves exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the inning, then added two more in the fourth to end the game, 16-1.
Reeds Spring was scheduled to play Sullivan, winner of District 9, on Wednesday.
The Ava Lady Bears were undefeated in conference play to win the SCA title for the third straight year. The Lady Bears finished the season with an overall record of 13-10.
