Fall is here with thunderstorms, falling leaves, cobwebs everywhere I walk, outside from the porch to shade trees and a harvest moon.
A belated birthday wish to Lawrence Strickland who celebrated his 81st birthday, Sept. 20 with dinner at Rockbridge Trout Ranch and the new Hootin An Hollarin queen, Darian Amyx, sang happy birthday to him.
It was good to talk to Nadine House last Saturday and catch up on their families well-being. She and Mose were looking for his oldest sister, Geneva (House’s) daughter and husband from Springfield, for a days visit. It was also good to hear from Nadine’s aunts, Wilma Hooper in Oskaloosa, Kansas and Rosalie Sorenson in Des Plains, Illinois. They are sisters of her mother, Nova Pleasant. Both were graduates of Gainesville High School.
Maggie Carr was glad to get their addresses also, to get in touch with them.
In last weeks news it was misprinted about the Ed Stevens Day offering was taken at the end of Sunday service and not a part of Doug Irwin’s sermon. Misprints change the entire meaning of a sentence. I apologize for misspelling Katelyn Satterfield’s name as I wrote Caitlyn last week. Sorry!
How many folks saw the “bright star” planet Jupiter Monday evening a week ago in the Eastern sky? It will be 2022 before it will be that bright again and it was close to earth since the year 1963, a news report said.

Revival at Lilly Ridge Church starts Sunday evening Oct. 3 with Bro. Zack Williams from Norwood. Following nights through Thursday, Bro. Dale Roberts, Bill Bales, Doug Irwin and Robert Roberts will be our evangelists. Everyone is encouraged to attend each service.

Bob and Betty Arnett had friends, Larry and Betty Erwin, from Tennessee, visiting them Monday.
Maxine Smith, Paralee Rea and I enjoyed visiting Fowler Church Sunday and the delicious dinner, following was the ordination service for their new deacons, Robert Arnett and Edsel Johnston. They have an active church and dedicated members.
Theodosia Eastern Star has installation of 2011 officers Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1:00 p.m.
Douglas, Ozark and Wright counties DOW Achievement Day at Ava on Tuesday, Oct. 19, is just around the corner, when the extension clubs get together each year. Money from their silent auction goes for the wig program for cancer patients.

Sylvia Carson’s daughters, Jennifer, husband, Dave, Theresa and daughter, Hannah, from Illinois visited from Thursday to Monday morning with her.
