Seventh Grade Bears Fall To Houston 12-0

Ava’s seventh grade football squad played at Houston on Thursday, September 30.

The Bears fell to the home team by a score of 12-0.

Ava stopped Houston’s first two drives with fumble recoveries by Paul Porter and Morgan Smith.

Ava’s Austin Potts intercepted a pass to stop Houston’s next drive.

Houston scored one touchdown late in each half of play.

The Bears controlled the time of possession as they ran 33 plays from scrimmage, compared to Houston’s 17 plays.

The Bears were simply unable to put the ball into the end zone, though they moved the ball inside the Houston 30 yard line on two possessions.

The seventh and eighth grade teams will next travel to West Plains on Thursday, October 7.

The seventh grade game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

The teams will close out the 2010 season at home on Tuesday, October 12 against the Mountain Grove Panthers.

The seventh grade contest is again scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
