The annual Wood Horse Trail Ride is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 16 if you’ve been wondering about it. It will start shortly after 10 a.m. from a field on the left side of E Highway  (just off 76) in eastern Douglas County. A noon meal will be provided and a return trip is expected around 3-4 o’clock. We’re hoping for good riding weather and wonderful day with the horses. Join us?

It was a very quiet weekend, no kids, grandkids, or even strangers came to visit. We could have used some “helpers,” too. Oh, well.

She’s fairly tall, blond, beautiful, athletic, comical and a wonderful Texas granddaughter. Sarah was chosen to be a contestant in the annual homecoming doings. The only possible problem was the fact that her volleyball team was scheduled to compete immediately following the homecoming activities and decision. The only answer that made any sense to her was to wear her uniform, knee pads and tennis shoes under her long dress – which is exactly what she did. Well, as it turned out she was not chosen queen, but hopefully they won their volleyball game. Time will tell. She sounds a lot like Joanne’s granddaughter!

Daughter and son-in-law Ruscell and Dave Pavlin drove to St. Louis to watch their daughter, Erin, play volleyball last weekend for Columbia College. Niece and nephew Janelle and Colin Bassett joined them for the game and time together.
