Offices in the Douglas County Courthouse will be closed next Monday, Oct. 11, in observance of Columbus Day.
While most businesses will be open as usual, because Columbus Day is a federal holiday, there will be no rural mail delivery on Monday.
Those correspondents who send their items to the Herald through the mail are asked to please mail them early, or drop them off at our office next week, to ensure that we receive them in time for next week’s paper.
Columbus Day is observed by state and federal offices, but is not a holiday observed by City of Ava office. Ava City Hall and Ava City Utilities will be open as usual on Monday.
The Douglas County Public Library and the Douglas County Health Department have announced they will be closed on Monday.
