Healthcare Center
Hello from our home to your home. A new month has and is already here. Churches that are on the schedule for October are: First Southern Baptist on the 10th, Ava United Methodist church on the 17th, Ava Assembly of God on the 24th and Ava General Baptist Church on the 31st. The monthly birthday will be held on Wednesday the 13th, Starworkers  will be bringing the birthday cakes. Residents having birthdays this month are Mary Alice Emerson, Margie Burke, Tom Hawkins, Anna Worthy, Wanda Moore, Basil Lakey, Veva Hann, Herman Rossner and Migh Hough.
Residents have been getting ready for the Golden Age Games, practicing the events that happen at the games. Soccer Kick and Basketball Toss are the hottest games around our building this week, except for Bingo in the afternoon.
It was great having Abby and Melanie Lathrom working with us from Ozark Action. Residents and staff will miss the girls. They are so upbeat.
Wednesday morning we went on a country van ride, first stopping at Ava Drug for the ice cream special. Residents that went were Maxine Lirley, Williene Adams, Laura Lansdown, Neva Vinson, Bill Herrington and Jo Engelhardt. We have a wonderful time on our ride.
Thursday morning residents finished painting their wheelchair signs for the games. There was a lot of talking and paint trading during the morning. They now have their name tags and banners done. In the afternoon we took Janet Lawson, Roxie Heimeyer, Velda Miller, Helen Allen and Ethel Posey to Sonic for treats, then we drove down to the S & H Fish Farm to pick up our fish that we caught the week before. We will be having a fish fry sometime this month.
Friday morning Nifty Nails were done by Karen Sellers, Josie Wylie and Erin Ewers. Everyone had a great time and things you hear in the beauty shop, stays in the beauty shop. Karen brought our baked treats from home and everyone enjoyed them. The First Sonshine Group was here for a morning of music with the residents. This group is awesome. Please come out on Friday morning and listen to them, the group starts singing at 10:30.
Saturday morning Norma Stillings was here playing the piano and singing special requests. Bro. Tom Hawkins did the service.
Sunday Goodhope General Baptist was here for the Sunday afternoon service. Residents enjoyed having the church here with all the young children. Larry Moore was here for Sunday school with the residents. Redbank Church was here in the afternoon for a time of singing with the residents.
We would like to welcome new residents to our home. They are Magdalena Otteson, Dora Huff, Mary Jones and Norm Talbert.
Congratulations to Kathleen Harnden and Janice Grooms as they went home this week.
God bless you from Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava, MO.
