Narvil Tetrick opened our Sunday church service with prayer.
Our Sunday school lesson was on “God’s Majesty”. Our lesson is teaching us when we look at the universe we should get an overwhelming majesty of God. Sometimes we are too busy to observe nature. Many people in entertainment, sports, politics, and others have highly inflated evaluations of them selves, “Only God is great”.
We had a lot of special prayer requests given. Please remember Bro. Bob Huskey, Dale Green, Willard Short, Delores Young and many others. God knows our needs before we even ask.
Our special song was done by Rod, Joanne and Matt Welker. We were happy to have a guest speaker, David Welch, for our Sunday day and night services. He brought such a good message on “Give 100% To God”. He took his text from Matthew 19:16. We are required to give 100% of ourselves, let God be the most important in our lives. We value our possessions more than God. We are to become selfless instead of selfish. Jesus gave His all. Have faith for you are in God’s hands. Look in Hebrews, chapter 11 and read about the heroes of Faith.
We sang happy birthday to Ella May Huskey, also, happy anniversary wishes goes out for Wendell and Virginia Deo on Oct. 8.
Our church was happy to have Susette Huskey visiting with us from the Smokey Mountain area of Tennessee.
A good crowd attended the annual sorgum making day held at Beverly and Narvil Tetrick’s farm last Saturday. There was lots of good food, music and fun.
Sunday night Bro. David’s message was taken from Luke 16:19-31 as we read about the rich man who had no compassion for Lazarus the beggar. There is a heaven and a hell and it’s your choice. Our minds should be open to the scriptures, be doers of the word and not hearer’s only.
A cleaning day is set for Saturday, Oct 9 starting at 9 a.m. for Gentry Church.
May God bless.
