In 1955 Barbara drove a pickup with a “topper” on it that had benches in it. She picked up kids to take to the Thornfield School. I stayed with my grandparents, Robert & Nan Hathcock part of that school year and was one of those kids.

I loved going to their store and if Barbara was there, she usually gave me a piece of candy.

I still stop at the store when I’m “down home” and always think of John & Barbara.

    My condolences to their family.
