Ava Place

It has been a busy week at Ava Place. Residents have been more active outside since the cooler weather has arrived. Sweaters and jackets have been taken from the closets and worn while watching the afternoon sun sink over the horizon.
Painting classes are popular and the residents paint scenes they remember that range from pumpkins in the field, flowers and even the United States flag. We are planning more painting activities. Outlines of things to be painted will be placed on the canvas so residents who don’t like to draw will enjoy painting a design in colors of their choice.
More books have been obtained from our public library to continue the reading program. The next book is “Al Capone Does My Shirts.” We are looking forward to the new book and hope it is as good as the last series.
Traveling strings performed for us last week. We always enjoy them. They bring light and joy to our home.
Some of our activities have included a nail care day, bead fun, movie day, bingo, exercise group and bean bag toss. Games like Yahtzee are played in the evenings.
Amy Adams and June Grigg attended a dietary meeting to review menus and recipes to better enhance the dining experience at Ava Place. Resident’s preferences are incorporated into the menu plan for the fall menu. Food is great here.
The sign for Ava Place has been moved to the flowerbed out front. It really looks nice. The fence has been repaired and will be re-stained this month. The hedges have been trimmed in front of the building and there are still pink rose blooms on the climbing rose. We will be planting lettuce and spinach this week in our raised bed garden.
As the beautiful autumn continues we hope everyone has a chance to see the changing color extravaganza. Have a wonderful week from everyone at Ava Place.
