Ava General Baptist Church

Well, it looks like fall weather is finally coming to the Ozarks. The change of seasons is going on within our church as well. Autumn banners with the written Word are hanging on display and soon the fall leaves and flowers will grace the Church as well. That means that the church will soon be gearing up for friend day and there will be choir practice on October 3 at 5 p.m. to prepare for that special music. Anyone who would like to join in for that, we welcome you to be there. There are no special requirements you need except to sing unto the Lord and to those friends we invite to church on friend day.
Bro. Oren’s message Sunday was taken from Col. 3:12-17. We have been commanded by the Word of God to live for God day by day. So we must imitate God’s compassion and His love of others. We need to be thankful for a God who loves us so much, that he sent His son to die in our place so we could have salvation. All of us are sinners, so be mindful that if someone genuinely asks forgiveness for a crime against us, we need to forgive. It’s a hard concept I know, but think about our own sin nature. If God can forgive us, he commands that we do the same. He also commands that we live in peace with each other even though we have differences, we have a common bond and that is Jesus Christ. We may all have different ways of worship or discipleship but we can still work for the Glory of our Savior Jesus Christ. We have to work together to bring the gospel to a lost world. Don’t let the methods get in the way of bringing people into the church and eternal life.
Prayer is vital for Christians and we must be diligent in our prayer life. Take time this week to remember all those on our prayer list and others who may come to your mind this week that need God in their life. Continue to Pray for Mark Stover’s granddaughter, Kelsie, in Iowa. She is at a hospital now in Des Moines and needs prayers for the doctors who are treating her and for her parents and family. Pray for our missions, for the unsaved, our church leaders and for each other.
I am told our Student Ministries have exploded with young people who are eager to learn the Word and have been inviting others to come on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm. They are on fire for God and it shows as others are drawn to the meetings and anxious to see what is happening! If you know of a young person who would like to attend, please invite them to come.
Our nursery has grown into two rooms now so the infants and the toddlers can play safely and there is so much more room for them to play now. God has answered some prayers as we are getting a few more volunteers to help with this ministry. We appreciate you for sharing your gift for this ministry so our children are safe and happy. If anyone feels God is leading you to help in the nursery or in Children’s church, please contact Helen at the church office.
Don’t forget that the Cavalrymen Quartet will be singing during both morning services on Oct. 10th. Invite someone to church so they can hear the Word through this wonderful southern Gospel quartet.
Have a wonderful week and remember that it takes all of us to keep up the work of Jesus. We may all have different ways to do that, but since people are not all the same, it means we can reach so many more who don’t know the Lord. See you Sunday and God Bless.
