Trinity Lutheran Church Table Talk

(Last Week’s News)

On this 16th Sunday after Pentecost we started our service with the Bible readings they are as follows:  Exodus 32:7-14, Psalm 51: 1-10 and the New Testament I Timothy 1: 12-17. Our lector was Jerry Johnson.

Pastor Wayne Strohschein’s sermon was on the Gospel Luke 15:1 – 10. With whom or what do you identify? At times we do feel lost like the sheep getting lost  in the scripture of Luke.

In this season of Pentecost, God has come near to us and we have to make choices. And we must listen
to God when he speaks to us.

We will have a parish meeting after church service next Sunday to vote for the second time upon leaving the ELCA, and at that time we will declare what Lutheran body we will go with. Also there will be a council meeting. There will be a potluck luncheon as well after the service.

The Ministerial Alliance was to meet Monday Sept. 13.

Monday at 5 p.m. at the church the Sunshine Singers will meet.

Naomi’s Circle will meet for a workday on Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday at 1 p.m. Worship & Music Committee meeting.

The annual garage sale was a big success. The money from the sale will be given to Neighbor Helping Neighbor. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will give us a percentage of the money taken in on the garage sale.

Please remember game night is Friday evening at 7 p.m. Come join us in the fun.

Please mark your calendars for the first and third Friday evening at 7 p.m. for game night. We do have a fun evening.

We wish to welcome all visitors and the new members that have joined us.

Please come join us Sundays, as we have Bible study at 9:30 a.m. and the church service at 10:45 a.m.

Communion is the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month and potluck luncheons are on the 1st and 3rd Sunday’s after the service.

(This Week’s News)

On this 17th Sunday after Pentecost  we started our service with the Bible readings. They are as follows: Amos 8:4-7 Psalm 113 and the New Testament 1 Timothy 2: 1-7.

Our lector was Hulda Tipton.

Pastor Wayne Strohschein’s sermon was on the Gospel Luke 16:1–13 and Amos 8:4-7,
“How do we put our Sunday world with our Monday world?” Sunday world should flow into Monday world. Paul speaks of our prayers for all to enjoy better lives by faith and thanksgiving. As you read Amos you look at today’s world and see all the greed and power from politicians and others and it’s much like it was in the Amos’ time. All the more reason for us to bring Sunday’s world into Monday’s world.

In this season of Pentecost, God has come near to us and we have to make choices. And we must listen
to God when he speaks to us.

We had our parish meeting after church service, to vote on the question to leave or stay with the ELCA and the vote was unanimous to  leave the ELCA, and  we also voted to go with the North American Lutheran Church which was also unanimous. There was a representative from the Missouri Synod visiting our church and was there to oversee the voting on these two questions as this was written in the constitution.

There was a potluck luncheon after the service today and it was delicious as always.

Monday at 5 p.m. the Sunshine Singers will meet at the church.

Please mark your calendars for first and third Friday evening at 7i p.m. for game night and we do have a fun evening.
