Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center

Hello from our home to your home.   I missed the deadline for last week’s news, so I will do two weeks of news this week.  Life Church was here on September 5th for the afternoon service, residents reported that a very large crowd attended the service from the church and from our home. Girdner Church was here for the afternoon service on September 12th.    Residents reported an awesome turnout for the service.
The monthly birthday party was held with Roy Murrill, Joann Lawrence, Lee Harley Allen, and Lee Jones.  Happy birthday was sung to the following residents:  Bob Box, Bill Herrington, Beverly Metcalf, Bonnie Sherrill, and Dorothy Siler.  Birthday cakes were provided by the Ava General Baptist Church. The following ladies helped serve the cake and ice cream: Katherine Coats, Maddie Hubey, Pat Bellman, Theresa Jones, Betty Moore, and Ella Doran. Everyone had a good time, the music was great and the cakes were delicious. The Cardin’s were here in the afternoon to visit with residents in their rooms.  Yorik the Wonder Dog was here for a visit with the residents; several residents look forward to this visit. Yorik is a volunteer with Hospice Compassus. The Sonshine Group is very faithful each week.   The numbers in their group is growing and residents have a very good time.  It is always a race against time getting everyone’s nails done before the guitar man gets here.
The Cooking Club made grape and apple jellies in the morning.  Ruth Evans had the residents busy with getting the jars ready, measuring out the sugar and  juice, and getting the jelly to set-up.  They are now enjoying eating the jelly at breakfast time. Ava Full Gospel Church was here Wednesday for church services with the residents. It’s nice having them back again. Residents have been out on country van rides, Sonic trip and they have been enjoying the beautiful weather outside. The patios are very popular this time of year.
Gentry Church was here Sunday the 19th and everyone enjoyed the wonderful singing and preaching. We are getting ready for the Golden Age Games, if anyone has any old overalls they would like to donate to the home, please call Connie at 683-4129 or drop them off at our home.
We would like to send our sympathy and prayers out to the family of Leona Hurst.
Congratulations on Norma Frye on getting to go home last week.  We will miss her, but she is still going to work on our dolls for us to give out at Christmas time. We would like to welcome new residents to our home. They are Virginia Gaulding Hutchings and  Kathleen Harnden. God Bless You From Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava, MO.
