Many may remember Margaret Rosseau from Poke Salat Days –– because for several years during the event, Margaret served as Granny Poke.
A lifetime resident of this area, Margaret now lives in Smallett where she has resided for the past five years.
As a Herald correspondent, Margaret gathers neighborhood news from the Smallett and Walnut Grove communities, a rural area located south of Ava on A Hwy., between the communities of Rome and Squires. She has been writing the column since February 2009.
Married to Delmar Rosseau, Margaret enjoys living life to the fullest, but most of all, she delights in spending time with family. She is blessed with three daughters, two step-daughters, one stepson, four granddaughters, one grandson, two great-granddaughters, and lots of nieces and nephews, and several siblings.
Margaret is the daughter of Nora Hunsaker and Bernard Deatherage; her grandparents were Lock and Ellen Miller of Basher, and Noah Deatherage and Helen Branstetter, all deceased.
Several years ago she retired from her position as manager of the DoCo Workshop here in Ava, and now she has the opportunity to spend her days enjoying life and her favorite hobbies, which include crafts, playing the piano and guitar.
Margaret,
We appreciate your many contributions and commitment as a community correspondent for the Douglas County Herald.
