The Ava Area Animal Welfare League Junior (AAAWLJ) met on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Members in attendance were Karen Davis, Carol Riggs, Pat Patton, Barbara Andrus, Paul McKee, and Mary Chipps.
The AAAWLJ is a non-profit community organization promoting pet health and the well being for the animals in our area. We promote humane farming and breeding practices, conscientious and legal hunting and harvesting of wildlife, and spay/neuter programs for domestic pets.
The group discussed past projects they have had for fund raising events and futures endeavors in which they would like to consider working.
Money raised at the last fundraiser will assist with a continued spay/neuter program. Just as a reminder to anyone adopting a pet from the city pound, AAAWLJ is here to help. When you adopt a pet from the city pound, AAAWLJ will pay half the cost for the spay/neuter at the Animal Clinic of Ava (Dr. Peters office) located at 304 NW 12th Avenue in Ava.
Club members discussed upcoming fall spay/neuter programs and the continuation of collecting funds through donation cans, ink cartridge recycling, Best Choice labels, and direct patron donations. Donations can be made to AAAWLJ, PO Box 1885, Ava, Missouri 65608. Money collected by AAAWLJ stays in our community. Our next meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 p.m. in Mrs. Karen Davis’ classroom at the Ava R-1 Schools.
