Sam Frye got a call from his daughter, Nancy Hooten, in Texas. The Texas kids and grandkids are doing okay. Sam called his sisters, Lena Sears and Hester Ranick, in Rockford and Rochelle, Illinois and they are also doing okay.
Carl and Joan Fletcher of Bois D’arc stopped by for a visit with Billy Fletcher, on the way home, Saturday.
Norma Stillings made her usual visits to the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center here in Ava and Rocky Ridge in Mansfield to visit with residents and play the piano. She attended the meeting of the Nubbin Ridge Homemakers at the Sonshine Café, Thursday afternoon. Eva Painter was the hostess. Norma attended a meeting of the Douglas County Extension Council, Thursday evening.
Norma learned Sunday about the death of her Uncle Vernon Rogers of Santa Barbara, California who had passed away Friday night. Vernon was born in 1920 to Arra C. and Ollie (Allen) Rogers, went to school in the Nubbin Ridge community, operated a small grocery store in Springfield for a few years in the late 1940’s and into the 50’s, and then moved with his parents to Santa Barbara in the 1950’s.
