It’s Homecoming Week at Ava High School

Coach Daniel Swofford, the football team, and the entire Ava High School student body are looking to “Put the Tigers on Ice” come this Friday night at the 2010 Ava High School Homecoming football game.

The theme for Homecoming 2010 is “Fire and Ice” in which students have focused their spirit days on opposites. Spirit Days included: Monday – Boys vs. Girls, Tuesday – Old vs. Young, Wednesday – Heroes vs. Villains, Thursday – Class Competition with seniors as royalty, juniors as knights and ladies, sophomores as jokers and jesters, and freshman dressing as peasants.

The week will conclude with Friday being the traditional Blue and Gold day.

In addition to dressing up for Spirit Days, there will be a Pep Assembly on Friday which will include the band playing, class competitions, recognition of Homecoming candidates, as well as a Homecoming video to remember the week’s activities.

As tradition holds, the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime during the game against the Houston Tigers. Homecoming queen candidates include Abby Dean, Emily Petty, and Nikki Rieken. King candidates are Garrett Baird, Pete Leonard, and Brock Mitchell.

AHS Pep Club would like to invite all Ava High School Alumni and the entire community to come out to the game.  Reminisce with old friends, and make some new ones, as you cheer for the Bears on Friday night.

After the football game there will be a Homecoming dance for Ava High School students from 9 p.m. to midnight in the high school commons area in the east building.

Everyone is also invited to come out Friday afternoon and watch the Homecoming parade make its way from the Ava school campus to the downtown square, then return to school. The parade will step off at approximately 2:30 p.m.
