Rod Welker opened church service Sunday with prayer.
Our Sunday school lesson was on “God’s Covenant with Israel”. God was reminding the people that I am God and thou shall have no other God’s before me, keep the Sabbath Holy, which is a way to say God is important to us.
Our special songs Sunday morning were by the Gentry Singers and Sunday night by a quartet of Matt Welker, Faye Allen, Wanda Casady and Rod Welker. It blessed us all.
Pastor Riley Hall’s message was on “Deliverance from a Carnal Mind”. Some text was taken from
Romans8:7-8 and Galatians 5:13-21. The Bible tells us sin comes from within and some of the causes of carnal minds to sin are evil thoughts, murders, uncleanness, etc., but we can get help through the blood of Jesus for He died for our sins. Jesus was sent to cleanse our hearts and make us pure by the Holy Spirit. The gift of God is eternal life.
We all wish a happy anniversary to Doug and Sheila Miller, Sept. 19.
Gentry Church sings at the nursing home Sunday, the 19th at 2 p.m.

After Bible study this Wednesday night, Pastor Riley Hall is going to teach a class on “Roman Road of Salvation” teaching us how to be a good witness and help reach others in the community.
