Well, the busy time the Lions spend at the horse shows each year is over until spring. And busy it was!
The Lions appreciate so much everyone who came into the cook shack for their meals, or just a cup of coffee or a soda. This year the Lions had an expanded menu which included items, among others, Philly beef sandwiches, hot beef sandwiches, chicken dinners and fish dinners which had mashed potatoes, gravy, beans, corn, cole slaw and hot rolls.
New desserts were homemade pies and cobbler and cinnamon rolls.
The dinners and desserts were prepared by Ruby and Verl Warren. As usual the Lions sold gallons of coffee during the breakfast hours, and new for breakfast this year were pancakes which were a big hit for many breakfast eaters. Hodgson Mills donated the pancake mix.
Served with the pancakes was a choice of regular, sugar free, or homemade syrup, made by Lion Evelyn Cantwell. The usual hamburgers and fries sold well, and are always a favorite, as are the chicken baskets, hot dogs, Frito pies and nachos.
Ruby Warren’s beautiful handmade quilt, which she donated, was won by Glen Dale Robertson.
