Austin F. Keeney was born in Elizabeth Town, Ill., to the late Jesse and Della Estes Keeney. He was of the Church of God faith and a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.
He had lived in the Sulligent, Ala., area since 1991 and had retired from the Teamsters Union and the Pierson Building Supply as a truck driver in Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Markham Keeney, of Sulligent, Ala.; three daughters, Sheila Cole and Cynthia (Don) Rasberry, both of Sulligent, Ala., and Judy (Dexter) Barnett, of Brilliant, Ala.; two sons, Robert A. Keeney, of Sulligent, Ala., and Rick (Michael) Gosa, of Notasulga, Ala.; four sisters, Linda (Avery) Sneed, of Rosiclare, Ill., Ella (Bob) White, of Batavia, Ill., Charlotte Lane, of Eldorado, Ill., and Elaine Bollinger, of Texas; one brother, Bob (Doris) Keeney, of Thornfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and a great-grandson.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at Norwood Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent, Ala., with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Bro. Jimmy Green officiated.
