FORSYTH, Mo. –– The White River Valley Historical Society’s (“WRVHS”) ‘Treasures Weekend’ fundraiser, originally scheduled for September 17 and 18, has been postponed to a date yet to be determined.
“We had a good response from those interested in having their items appraised, but learned that most vendors for the vintage yard sale were unavailable due to prior bookings at similar events held in the Ozarks during the fall season,” said Leslie Wyman, Managing Director. “We are looking at dates either closer to Christmas, or early next spring, when everyone’s ready to clear out some of their clutter from the winter.”
The Society’s quarterly meeting on Sunday, September 12 will feature “Show and Tell” with shared treasures. Guests are encouraged to search their attics, cupboards and garages for their favorite antique or collectible which has a story behind it, and bring it to the meeting. Social time begins at 1:30 p.m, followed by a short meeting and the “Show and Tell” program.
Upcoming museum exhibits include “Sportsman’s Paradise” from Sept. 27 to Oct. 29, and “What’s Cooking?” from Nov. 15 to Dec. 17. Special events are planned with some exhibits and will be announced when details are complete.
In addition to the museum, the Historical Society also houses a research library, gift shop and bookstore with many books by local authors including “Land of Taney” by the late Elmo Ingenthron.
Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free; donations are welcomed.
