“Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me,” John 14:1.
Last week I visited with Tiffanee Satterfield and daughter, Zoe Shull. Also visiting with her was Fanya Scott, Dara and Bailey Strong.
Monday, Gary Nasif fell broke both of his feet.
Early Tuesday, Aug. 31 morning my aunt Elva Clayton passed on at the Ava nursing home after being there three and a half years. It had been 21 years ago in August that my mom, Lilliam, passed on. Thursday morning the funeral was at the Oak Grove Church at 11 a.m. Her brother, Virgil Fry, couldn’t make it due to health problems. Elva’s granddaughter, Sheri Johnston and her oldest son, Isaac came down from Illinois for it. Another prayer warrior is home with the Lord. Back in 1991 Elva gave me instruction that this was to be said at her funeral. “She believed in God, Jesus Christ. We can do all things with His help. Now friends, neighbors, children and loved ones, don’t cry for me. I am gone to rest with God. See you in the morning. Sinner get ready.”
We appreciate the Oak Grove Church for a good dinner, for Lola Mayberry singing the songs Elva wanted sung, for Robert Roberts and Charles McFarland for their kind words. Of course that was what Elva wanted.
We had a good rain Wednesday and when it rained and stormed Thursday night the weather sure cooled down.
Thursday night Marti Yost, 7 year-old great granddaughter of Howard and Ella Faye Mitchell, was bit by a big old copperhead snake on her lower left leg. Marti was taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital. Friday, the doctor started giving her the anti-venom.
Our daughter, Honie Johnson took me to Springfield Saturday for my birthday. After dinner we went to the hospital to visit Marti. Justin Yost, Marti’s dad and Marti’s mother, Tafi Shannon were there also.
Sunday after church I went to Ava to my niece’s home, Del and Fanya Scott for a barbeque. Those there were their son, Zane, Howard and Ella Faye Mitchell, Clayton, Tori and Remmi Scott, Dara, Cody and Bailey Strong, Zamber Satterfield and John Little, Roger Jr., Amy, and Dillon Adams, Tiffanee Satterfield and Zoe Shull, Ralph and Dana Brazeal, Honie Johnson, Roger III and Kylie Adams, Cody, Megan and Evan Harley.
Over the weekend Zamber Satterfield and John Little visited with Ralph and Dana Brazeal. Zamber’s children, Wyatt and Liviya Wharton were with their dad, Jerid in Ava.
Happy birthday to Wyatt Wharton Sunday. He will be four years-old.
