Ray Johnson, 81

Marchie Ray Johnson, 81 years, passed to heaven on Sept. 4, 2010 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava, Mo.

Ray was born March 21, 1929 in Smallett, Mo., to Herbert Johnson and Eliza Janey (Hogan) Johnson.

Ray lived most of his life in the Ava community. On May 21, 1994 Ray and Ora Jenkins Stamper were united in marriage. She was his soul mate. Ray worked at the Owens & Gaulding All Night Station in Ava and later retired from the Swift Meat Packing Co. in Illinois.  He was a member of the Walnut Grove General Baptist Church.

Ray was preceded by his parents, a sister Ressie Nelson, and his wife, Ora Jenkins Stamper.

Ray is survived by one son, Danny Johnson and his wife, Wanda, and three grandchildren, Frank, Steven and Brandy Johnson, of Ava. Ray also has two brothers, Rex and Marti Johnson, of Rochelle, Ill., and Raymond and Jeanette Johnson, of Ava; and one sister, Roxie Heimeyer, also of Ava; and many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ray will be Saturday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m., at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be the Revs. Robert Roberts and Tom Johnson. Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove General Baptist Church.
