U.S. Senator Christopher “Kit” Bond announced this week that a Listening Post Forum will be held in Ava on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
A representative of the senator, Stacy Burks, will be available at the Ava Senior Center from 9 to 10 a.m. to hear from constituents.
“My best ideas come from Missouri and I depend on the feedback I get from the thousands of Missourians that use these meetings each year,” said Bond. “My job is to serve Missourians, but I need to hear about a problem if I am going to help solve it, and that’s what these Listening Posts are for.”
Listening Posts are meetings with Missourians held by Senator Bond’s staff across the state. During these meetings, Missourians are invited to discuss their concerns with federal policies and agencies with members of the Senator’s staff.
While Bond is back in the state almost every weekend, the Senator established his Listening Post program in 1987 as a way to better serve Missourians and to inform constituents about the assistance his office is able to provide. The Senator continues to stress that even in this age of cell phones, e-mail and the Internet, face-to-face meetings still work the best. As the Senator is known for saying, “No technology can replace a handshake.”

In addition to Listening Posts, Bond’s Jefferson City office extends one-on-one services to all Missourians experiencing problems with the federal government.
