After a nice road trip to Liberty, the junior varsity softball Lady Bears defeated the Liberty Eagles 15-6.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning before Abby Sparnicht found her groove on the mound.
Sparnicht allowed only two more runs in the final two innings.
Like Sparnicht, the defenseĀ tightened up to help get the first win of the season.
Offensively the bears had smacked eight hits and walks.
Shelby Campbell and Jess Eubanks led the way offensively, going 2-for-2 and 2-for-3, respectively, each driving in a run.
Bailey Lee and Rachel Swofford each had run-scoring singles in the third inning.
Sparnicht added a double at the plate to her four-strikeout pitching performance in the win.
