Ava’s freshmen and junior varsity football teams traveled to face the Mountain Grove Panthers on Monday, August 30.
The freshmen squad kicked off the night against a very tough Mountain Grove freshmen roster.
Mountain Grove jumped out to an early 16-0 lead before Ben Loge connected with Chance Boyd down the right sideline for a 40 yard touchdown pass.
Brett Vinson ran for the two point conversion.
Mountain Grove proved to be too much and put up two more touchdowns in the second half to win 30-8.
The junior varsity followed with a shortened game due to lack of players on the Mountain Grove roster.
They played two, ten minute halves.
Mountain Grove scored at the end of the first half, but they failed on the two point conversion and led 6-0.
Ava threatened in the second half with a drive powered by Cody Wallace running behind the offensive line that opened plenty of holes.
In the end, Ava fell by a final score of 6-0.
