Coming Soon — 2010-2011 Flu Season

The Douglas County Health Department will be holding its annual flu vaccination clinic this fall at a date to be announced.  The vaccine is free and is offered to all adult Douglas County residents.

The Health Dept. is currently accepting phone calls from those wanting to be placed on a waiting list for this year’s limited supply.  Once the vaccine is on hand, those on the list will be notified of the date and time to present to the Health Department to receive your flu shot.  The number to call is 417-683-4174.

The 2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against the three main flu viruses which research has shown will cause the most illness this flu season: an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus, and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last year.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone as the first and most important step in protecting against seasonal flu.  Getting the flu vaccine as soon as it is available will provide you with protection throughout the coming flu season.

Health Dept. personnel encourage and thank those who are vaccinated in protecting the health of the residents of Douglas County.
