Bessie M. Brown was received into the Lord Jesus Christ’s presence and eternal grace on Aug. 28, 2010.
Bessie was one of 10 children of Charley and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Porter, of Girdner.
Mrs. Brown has a life-time heritage of giving care to many people as she was known for her great service to the Santa Barbara, Calif., community and Calvary Baptist Church. Her greatest passion and priority surrounded her express care for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bessie is survived by her husband, Dempsey Brown; son, Bennett Brown and his wife, Janice, and daughter, Susan Blanchard, and her husband, Bruce. Grandchildren and their spouses include Ryan and Shayla Brown, David and Aubrey Brown, Elizabeth and Ron Fernandez, Crystal and Bryce Madsen, John and Breanne Blanchard, and James and Amy Blanchard. Great-grandchildren include Ben, Noble, Theo, Cooper, Malachi, Moses, Zoey and Presley.
She is also survived by a sister, Alice Welch and husband, Paul, and two brothers, Herbert Porter, and Cap Porter and wife, Sue, all of Ava.
Bessie is a woman who lived to give and her depth of giving will remain unequaled but emulated by all who were blessed by her presence and spirit.
Private family services were conducted at Welch-Rice on Aug. 29.
