JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan certified the results of the Aug. 3, Primary Election at her office in Jefferson City on Tuesday. The certified Primary Election results will be used to set the ballot for the Nov. 2, General Election. To view the official election results, please visit http://www.sos.mo.gov/enr web/.
Six independent candidates were also certified to appear on the ballot for the Nov. 2, General Election. The following candidates submitted a sufficient number of valid signatures to be certified as independent candidates:
United States House of Representatives District 8: Larry Bill; Missouri House of Representatives District 69: Yolanda Austin; Missouri House of Representatives District 90: Charles Smith II; Missouri House of Representatives District 115: Randy Dinwiddie; Missouri House of Representatives District 138: Steven L. Reed; Missouri House of Representatives District 143: Michael Chipman.
Independent candidates for the Missouri House of Representatives and the United States House of Representatives must submit valid signatures of registered voters in the district equal to at least two percent of the total number of votes cast in the last election in that district.
Independent candidate Larry Bill will be opposing Republican incumbent Jo Ann Emerson and Democratic challenger Tommy Sowers.
Michael Chipman will oppose Republican Lyle Rowland who has no Democratic opponent in the general election.
U.S. Congressional District 8 includes Douglas County and the southeastern part of the state from Branson to Cape Girardeau and Rolla to the Bootheel. Missouri House of Representatives District 143 involves Ozark County and part of Taney, Stone and Howell counties.
