Gainesville High School’s every-five-year 2010 homecoming, set for Sept. 4 at the high school, celebrates “100 Years of Graduates.” All grads, family, friends, teachers and administrators are encouraged to attend. The event has been held every five years since 1965.
Registration will be held in the high school lobby from 10 a.m. until noon. A $3 registration fee will be requested to cover expenses. Individual classes will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Lunch, catered by the Old Harlin House Café, will be served from noon until 2 p.m. However, the deadline has passed for lunch reservations and no more can be accepted.
At 3 p.m. the reunion moves to the elementary school to take advantage of its air-conditioned gym. The program includes recognition of outstanding alumni, administrators and teachers, including the presentation of this year’s Outstanding Alumni Awards.
The program’s musical entertainment will include lip-synch talent including student Logan Smith as well as the Bennett Creek Band, which includes GHS staff member Bill Talley.
Alumni will have the opportunity at the reunion to purchase one of the few remaining copies of the GHS commemorative print “Old School” by beloved Ozarks artist James Burkhart.
