The Douglas County Democratic Central Committee reorganizational meeting was held on Aug. 17 at the Little/Tost training center to elect new officers and to fill township committee member positions.
Teresa Tost opened the meeting and welcomed those in attendance.
Following introductions, election positions for chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer were open for nominations and the following officers were elected for Douglas County Democratic Central Committee:
Chair: Teresa Tost; vice chair: Gene Cherry; the position for secretary is still open and for treasurer: Chaz Franzke.
The committee was able to fill a lot of the township committee member positions, but there are still openings in the following: Spencer, Buchanan, Lincoln, Washington, Findley, Boone, Clay, Brown, Cass, Champion, Jackson, Bryan, Brushcreek, Clinton, McKinley and Richland townships.
Several names were talked about for some of the townships aforementioned and it was explained that each person will need to notify one of the elected officers if they wish to take the committee member position. If you or anyone else you know would like to serve as a committee member please contact one of the officers. The committee does not wish to list someone without talking with them first.
Also discussed was the Adopt a Highway sign that has been put up on West 76. Starting in September members will be picking up trash along the highway. If you would like to get involved please come to the next meeting on Sept, 14, at 5 p.m. at Larkin’s in Ava.
Other business was discussed involved the fall campaign. If interested contact Gene Cherry at 417-948-2989.
