Our bodies are made for activity, but modern conveniences have caused us to become more inactive. Physical inactivity can place our health at risk for many chronic diseases.
Here’s some good news! We have something fun planned to get you up and moving! A grant from the University of Missouri Food and Nutrition Program is supporting the “Stay Strong, Stay Healthy” program in Ava.
The Stay Strong program is based on simple, strength building exercises that will improve balance, health and state of mind. No, it’s not strenuous, Olympic class weight lifting; you will start at a level that is right for you. No one is too inactive to participate. Building strength promotes enhanced health as well as quality of life and independence. Regardless of your fitness level, you may begin the program at any time.
The Stay Strong Stay Healthy program is held on Mondays and Wednesdays in the basement of the Ava Community Center now through Sept. 20, from 10-11 a.m. There is no charge for the class.
For more information regarding the class or registration, please contact the Douglas County Extension office at 683-4409.
University of Missouri Extension programs are open to all.
