Tina Boyd was declared the winner of the Republican nomination for Douglas County Recorder following a recount of ballots Monday.
County Clerk Karry Davis said challenger Kathy Bray actually dropped one vote in the recount process, with the final tally having incumbent Boyd with 1,777 votes to Bray’s 1,760.
The election-night tally on Aug. 3 showed a 16-vote difference, with Bray receiving 1,761 votes. Bray requested a recount of the votes, as she may do when the difference is one percent or less, and the recount was ordered by the court.
With no Democrat filed for recorder of deeds in Douglas County, Boyd will retain the office when the new term begins Jan. 1.
