The Douglas County Historical Society held its monthly meeting on Aug. 16.
President Pat Carmichael called the meeting to order. Sharon read the treasurer’s report and the minutes of the July meeting and they were approved. The new brochure for the museum was discussed and what changes need to be made.
Joe gave an update on what maintenance was being done on the yard and museum. There is an antique plate donated to the museum that was giving away by the Robert Luther Story mercantile in the 1930s. Marilyn is researching information, so she can put a history with it.
It is time to turn in your articles for the Winter 2010 Journal; the deadline is Oct. 15.
We had a new book donated for our research library called the Big Muddy and it is full of article written about several different states.
After a discussion of our hours, it was decided to keep the summer hours for at least another month.
The next meeting will be Sept. 20 at the museum and everyone is welcome.
