Fred Stewart, former justice of the peace in Comal County, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at his home in Bulverde, Texas, at the age of 102.
He was born Nov. 11, 1907, in Ava.
He retired as an attorney for Mobil Oil Company after 32 years service. Following his retirement he moved to Bulverde, Texas in 1974 and was elected justice of the peace.
He served in Comal County 28 years until his retirement at the age of 95. At that time he was the oldest working judge in the state of Texas.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lillian Stewart, of Bulverde, Texas; a son, Fred Stewart III, of Massachusetts; and a daughter, Joanne Green, of Missouri. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren in California, Missouri, Massachusetts and Ohio.
A memorial service was conducted at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bulverde, Texas, on Aug. 11. Burial was in Goodhope Cemetery west of Ava under direction of Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home of New Braunfels, Texas.
