Delaney Sweeney, of Souder, has received the Dennis E. Gallup 4-H Memorial Scholarship for the school year 2010/2011.
The Missouri 4-H Foundation awards the scholarship on the basis of commitment to being a good student and contributions to local communities.
Cheryl Reams, executive director of Missouri 4-H Foundation, commends Delaney for her accomplishments. “Delaney has exemplified excellent academic performance, and has show strong leadership skills in her many community service projects. We congratulate her on this honor and wish her the best as she pursues her post-secondary education at Drury University this fall.”
Delaney is a graduate of Ava High School, and has been a member of 4-H for 12 years. She has completed almost 1,000 logged hours in community service work during her elementary and high school years. She is the daughter of Sean and Cleta Sweeney, of Souder.
The Missouri 4-H Foundation is steeped in tradition, grounded in the spirit of innovation, and rooted in education. The University of Missouri Extension 4-H Center for Youth Development has enriched the lives of thousands of youth for generations through club activities and educational programs.
As Alison Copeland, State Youth specialist claims, “Our primary goal is to ensure that Missouri 4-H members have the best 4-H experience possible.”
The Foundation strives to recognize excellence in its members as well as its volunteers. Since 1949, thousands of individuals, organizations and businesses have generously invested financial support in 4-H.
Through the wise use of these funds, she says, we “make the best better” for Missouri 4-H’ers. To find our more about the Missouri 4-H foundation, you may contact them at 800-642-8041 or 4hfound ation@missouri.
