Gerald D. “Jerry” Fitzgerald, 71, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, died on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born March 14, 1939 in Ava, Mo., the son of Herman and Lois (Maggard) Fitzgerald.
Jerry was a self-employed carpenter who enjoyed panning for gold out west, visiting the riverboats, playing keno, participating in area euchre tournaments and traveling.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Lois Fitzgerald of Bettendorf; his children, Pam, Beth, Kimberly and Jared; several grandchildren; his sisters, Dorothy (Richard) Kimmel of Bettendorf and Janice (Robert) Anderson of Port Byron, Ill.; his brothers, Bill (Kim) Fitzgerald of Princeton, Iowa and Ken (Alice) Fitzgerald of LeClaire, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Herman.
