Ella May Daugherty has served as a community news columnist to the Douglas County Herald for 25 years.
A graduate of Ava High School, she was a member of the Class of 1950.
For the Herald, Ella May keeps everyone up to date with the social happenings in Gentryville, an area located around the intersection of east 14 and 95 highways, approximately 22 miles southeast of Ava.
Ella May truly enjoys time spent with family members, including her three daughters, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. That is her favorite thing to do. In fact, she refers to her grands- and great-grandchildren as “my jewels”.
On days when Ella May isn’t taking pleasure in family fun and activities, she enjoys her hobbies of reading, crossword puzzles, and flower gardening.
